It’s great to see more and more museums across Scotland opening up again after the Covid-19 enforced lockdown. Museums Galleries Scotland is the National Development Body for the museum sector across Scotland and has been supporting museums throughout the closure and helping them to reopen safely.
MGS recently launched a campaign called Museums Are Go to celebrate the return of a host of visitor attractions across the length and breadth of the country and as part of this I was commissioned to produce a 30 sec film to be used across social media channels and in the media in general.
As some of the museums were in the process of opening at the time of filming the challenge was to source enough footage to produce the film. Earlier on in the month I was commissioned to shoot some press images at HMS Discovery in Dundee and while I was there I shot some B roll gimbal footage for future use. I also visited the newly opened Gairloch museum to shoot some indoor scenes. I have worked with MGS for a number of years and have built up an archive of film so I was able to incorporate some of those shots into the film along with other material from my work with the heritage sector.
In addition to the wide screen version I also produced a square format version for use on Instagram.
I was delighted to see the film featured on BBC Reporting Scotland recently.
