Photography in Lockdown

The past few months have been incredibly difficult for a great number of people. It’s been a time of great change dealing with restrictions in movement due to the Covid -19 pandemic, new ways of working, home schooling and other factors which have seen our lives change in ways we couldn’t have imagined at the beginning of this year.

It’s also presented great opportunities to slow down, to take stock of our lives and to think about what kind of lives we desire once we get through this.

Professionally and personally the change in the pace of life has allowed me to explore an area of photography which I have neglected previously. Working as a professional photographer and film maker often doesn’t allow the privilege of time and energy to carry out many personal commissions.

I am very lucky to live about a five minute walk from the stunning Belhaven Beach in Dunbar, East Lothian. The little footbridge which crosses the Beil Burn where it meets the sea has become rather famous over the years and is referred to as the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ as it becomes cut off during high tide.

It always makes for great photographs, especially during sunset.
